Jerry Lou Lamphire

Jerry Lou Lamphire, 82, of Columbus, died at 3:08 a.m., Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Jerry was born June 15, 1940, in Columbus, the son of James and Cora Weber Lamphire. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Columbus. He was a very hard worker, employed with Chestnut Builders. Jerry loved people and being outdoors. He could be seen frequenting the local establishment, Just Friends, where he played Bingo and Pool. Jerry will be remembered for being a quiet, yet strong man. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home at with Pastor Reed Chapman officiating. Calling will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Just Friends through the funeral home. Survivors include his children, Kattie (Timothy) Dobson of Columbus, Jerry Lee Lamphire of Bedford, and Thomas Lamphire of Columbus; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents and a great-grandson, Bryson Lee Dobson; brothers, James, Billy, and Roscoe Lamphire; and a sister, Judy Brown.
