SERVICES: FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wetzel officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday. BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Joan Jackson, 73, of Fairlawn Drive, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Franciscan St. Francis Health. Joan retired from her secretarial position at Cummins Engine Company in 2001, after 24 years of service. Before joining Cummins, she worked for the Indiana State Parole Division. She was an avid doll collector. Born in Columbus Nov. 16, 1939, Joan was the daughter of Earl Leroy Newland and Betty Bowlby Newland. She married Lloyd Jackson Aug. 28, 1987. Survivors include her mother, of Columbus; her husband; sons, Tony (Kelly) Strahl of Columbus, IN, Michael Strahl of St. Meinrad, IN, and Darrell Strahl of Columbus, IN; a stepson, Lynn (Karen) Jackson of Greenwood, IN; a stepdaughter, Teresa Miller of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Steven (Susie) Newland of Columbus, IN; a sister, Delores Kuhn of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Brittany Percival, Tyler Strahl, Josh Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Caleb Strahl, Jacob Strahl and Mia Strahl; three stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild, Elijah Johnson; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Leroy Newland.
