John A. Harris

John A. Harris, 73, of Poplar Grove Road, died at 5:10 p.m. October 4, 2019, at Columbus Regional Hospital. John was born July 24, 1946, in Columbus, the son of William and Rosemary Hendrickson Harris. He married Carolyn S. Richard January 24, 1970. He had been employed with Cummins Engine Company for 18 years before going to work with International Chemical as a technical representative for 22 years before retiring in 2010. He attended East Columbus United Methodist Church. John enjoyed sports, current events, and maintaining close connections with family and friends. The funeral will be conducted graveside at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with Pastor Charles Aigner officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service. Memorials may be made to East Columbus United Methodist Church or Access-Ability in honor of John. Survivors include his mother, Rosemary Harris of Columbus; wife, Carolyn; son, Brent A. Harris and daughter, Stacie L. Harris, both of Freetown; and sisters, Barbara A. Walters and Dorothy Jean (Donald) Burton, both of Hope. He was preceded in death by his father, William Harris.
