John A. McCauley August 21, 1960 - October 20, 2007 John A. McCauley, 47, of Midway Street died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Care Facility. John was a member of the Mayors Disability Task Force, Columbus Transit Advisory Committee and Crime Stoppers. He supported many other organizations, local and state, with his time and talents. He enjoyed being outdoors, traveling by bike/scooter/wheelchair with his signature orange flag, and spending time with his family. He loved music and had a strong Christian faith. He shared that faith through his membership with Asbury United Methodist Church, Columbus, Ind. Emmaus, and Columbus Christian Singles. John was always looking out for the needs of others and ways to improve their quality of life. He was a people person whom everyone knew. Mr. McCauley was born Aug. 21, 1960, the son of John William McCauley and Kathleen Coats McCauley. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Betty Lou McCauley of Seymour, Ind.; his mother, of Columbus; sisters, Debbie (Daniel) Holmes of Columbus, Ind.; Mary Louise McCauley of Columbus, Ind., and Betty Ann (Michael G.) Kelly of Columbus, Ind.; a godson, Josh Burrell of Wyoming; friend, Diane Burrell Ratliff of Colorado; four nephews; one niece; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Dr. Al Styron officiating. VISITATION: Will be Monday October 22, 2007 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at Asbury United Methodist Church. BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials may be made to either Bartholomew County Easter Seal, or to the Asbury United Methodist Church.
