SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Day Jr. officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. VISITATION: noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. BURIAL: Inurnment will be at a later date at Hope Moravian Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Mooseheart Child City & School. John Charles Martin, 67, of Hope, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital in Reed City, Michigan, while on vacation. John was born January 10, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Edward and Edna Lane Martin. He married Sandra Van Gennep December 9, 1967. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended The Ridge, was a member of the Moose Lodge and volunteered at Otter Creek Golf Course. John loved spending time with his grandkids. He also loved hunting, fishing, golf, playing cards and traveling with his wife and kids. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; mother, Edna Martin of Hope; son, Jonathan (Emily) Martin of Noblesville; daughters, Amy (Rick) Roseberry and Angela (Darrin) Wells, all of Columbus; a brother, Paul (Sarah) Martin of Punta Gorda, Florida; and grandchildren, Caleb and Connor Roseberry, Nathanael and Charlie Wells, and Noah and Jacob Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Martin; and grandchildren, Hannah Roseberry and Ellory Martin.

What a loving, kind man John was. My heart is with his beautiful wife and my friend, Sandy. God Bless his loving family and friends who will forever miss this wonderful man. God has a new star to light this world for those left behind. Rest Well Dear Friend.
