December 18, 1967 ~ April 14, 2024

John “Tony” Taylor, 56, of Columbus, passed away on April 14, 2024. Tony was born in Franklin on December 18, 1967, to John and Janice Brummett Taylor. He was united in marriage to Deanne Bradtke on April 23, 2010. Tony possessed an innate talent for mechanics, earning him the reputation of a master mechanic. With skill and dedication, he could breathe life back into any machine that crossed his path, from household appliances to a beloved red Grand-AM. Tony found solace and joy in the embrace of his faith community at Columbus Bible Church, where he sought spiritual nourishment and fellowship. Additionally, he embraced the path to recovery, finding strength and support through his participation in AA classes. Tony enjoyed putting together and painting model cars with great care. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had a knack for making up songs, often singing and dancing along as they came to his mind. He found peace and excitement in nature, especially when fishing and exploring. Tony is survived by his wife, Deanne, of Columbus, his children, Aron Taylor and Kaylynn Taylor, both of Franklin, his parents, John and Janice Taylor of Trafalgar, his brother, David Taylor, and his wife, Ivanna, currently serving as a missionary in Brazil, and his sister, Rhonda Belden, and her husband, Joe, of Franklin. The family has chosen cremation, and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Ha! It is 4:30 am. I am starring at the White House drawing. Just going back in time (in my mind) to the garage at the brick house. One day Tony had captured a baby opossum. I was never fond of these animals. But Tony was feeding it and taking care of it. So funny how these memories just pop in your head. I think I’ll title my memories as “What I Love about you.”

  2. Awe. This is Dee. I found our printed marriage vows to one another. In my mind I went back to that moment. Then in a blink of an eye you are no longer in this realm of the world. I have visualizations that you are in a huge group of people in white. Walking forward and singing hymns to the lord. When Tony went to church and everyone sang Christian songs Tony would become so touched beyond words. As his eyes watered with song you could see and feel the great faith for Jesus he had. Miss you so much Tony. Love Dee

  3. So……..it’s been a couple of weeks since Tony left us. Sometimes overwhelming emotions take over me. I like to listen to 3 songs in dealing with my grief for Tony. 1. It is well with my soul by Chris Rice. 2. Save me by Jelly Roll 3. Best of me by Jelly Roll. These songs help me. Maybe they can help others as well.

  4. I have Tony’s picture on the wall with a motion sensored light. Whenever I walk by he lights up! Amen! His urn is here with me. It has been truly rough on me since Tony’s passing. Memories of him keep flooding my mind. The good times we’ve had. The camping trips, the boat rides, the haunted houses and walks. The restaurants. The working together and going on strike. When Tony and I first met-we laid beside one another in his parents yard on the hammock by the pond. The stars shined until the clouds rolled. Then we ran our butts off to get out of the pouring rain. Rest in Peace my love!

  5. So….I’m now realizing that you have moved on Tony. I’ve decided today that I’m not going to focus on the pain you endured on this earth and the relief you could not find. Today I’m focusing on what you might be doing in the heavens. I think you probably got a hold of some sort of space vehicle and where no speed limits exist. Ha! I’m sure you’re seeing all kinds of amazing stars and planets. Love Dee

  6. The story of the pumpkin shirt on Tony. Every Holloween Tony got a pumpkin to put on his porch. Oh how he loved to light it. This particular year he could not keep the pumpkin intact. It was repeatedly smashed or some other mishap. I saw the pumpkin Tee Shirt. Thought, this is perfect. See the tee shirt 👕 in video.

  7. The story of Tony and Dee in the restaurant. Dee loved to make French onion soup (even in our dating days). Tony would never eat this. He continually grumbled “Awe that’s women soup”. For the following years he wouldn’t even sample it. In the restaurant I ordered me a cup of it. Big tough guy was sharing it with me. He loved it! 😝
