John Wesley Kibler, 53, of Columbus died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, under hospice care at his home after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
Mr. Kibler was a graduate of Edinburgh High School and attended Indiana University. He was a metallurgical chemist with Cummins Engine Co., retiring in 2003 after 30 years of service. He was previously a volunteer fireman with Burney Fire Department, enjoyed playing chess, gardening, hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and traveling, but, most of all, spending time with his family.
He was a member, attended and was baptized at Spearsville Church of Christ in Brown County.
Born in Franklin Oct. 16, 1954, Mr. Kibler was the son of Charles A. and Arvilla J. Dine Kibler. He married Susan Stolze March 22, 1980.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, of Columbus; a daughter, Melinda (Andy) Baker of Columbus; a son, Alan Kibler of Columbus; a grandchild, Ethan Baker; and a brother, Philip (Heather) Kibler of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Information
VISITATION: Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Marrow officiating.
BURIAL: Burial will be at Hartsville Cemetery.
Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
