Steve Pumphrey FINAL RESTING PLACE: Hope Moravian Cemetery VISITATION: 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Joseph T. Scgalski Sr., 79, of Central Avenue, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at his home. Born in Lake Forest, Illinois, Feb. 24, 1934, Joseph was the son of John Szczgyielski and Stella Lazkowski Szczgyielski. He fought in the United States Army during the Korean War and upon returning to Waukegan, Ill., and marrying Betty Speer, they moved to Columbus in 1969 where he worked for Cummins Engine Company until his retirement. Joseph enjoyed bowling, yard work and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Pumphrey officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Joseph is survived by sons, Joseph T. (Becky) Scgalski Jr. and Steve Scgalski, both of Columbus, IN; and grandchildren, Aubrey Joseph Scgalski, Krista Nicole Scgalski, and Karri Kristine Scgalski. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Speer Scgalski; his second wife, Vergie Fay Vanderbur Scgalski; a son, William J. Scgalski; and a grandson, David Luke Scgalski.
