Joyce Virginia Baynum

Joyce Virginia Baynum, 91, of Columbus, IN, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. She was born October 20, 1931, in Newport, KY, the daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Nadler) Smith. Joyce was a former resident of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, having moved to Columbus to be near her daughter. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was perfectly content with having her family around her and providing for them. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lisa (John) Hladik; sons, Vernon (Beverly) Baynum, Jr., Richard Baynum and Chris (Mary) Baynum; brother, Daniel (Vicky) Smith; grandchildren, Andrew (Jaime) Baynum, Matthew (Rachel) Baynum, Nathan Baynum, Zachary (Elise) Baynum, Bryan (Jenna) Hladik, Michael (Haley) Hladik and Lindsay (Dakota) Hooker; great-grandchildren, Guinevere Baynum, Thomas Baynum, Mary Lou Hladik, Annabelle Hladik and Maren Baynum. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon “Duke” A. Baynum, Sr.; a son, Donald Baynum and brothers, James and Gerald Smith. Memorial services will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the St. Stephen Cemetery with her husband and son. Arrangements were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
