VISITATION: If you wish to pay your respects, a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th Street, in Columbus, IN. MEMORIALS: In keeping with Nanny's spirit of play and all things fun, the family prefers that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the CSA Lincoln PTO Playground Fund, either by mailing directly to 750 5th Street, Columbus, IN 47201, or through the funeral home. "Have you ever been to Nanny's house?" once said Rebecca Kathleen, the first of two grandchildren to be named in honor of Kathy Calfee, who passed away on Monday, February 18th. If you have been to Nanny's house, you'll likely recall how she immediately came to greet you with a hug and a genuine, "How are you?" You may also remember the smell of her cooking, which she graciously let you sample, or the sight of her latest colorful knitting project, which is probably for you. No one who ever came to Nanny's house left with an empty stomach or empty heart. Though we will never hear her laugh or see her smile again, her spirit lives on in the hearts and hands of her family, who continue knitting, cooking, living, and crafting in her memory. Kathy is survived by, Larry, her husband of 46 years; two daughters, Julie Calfee (Bob Hult) and Dana Calfee (Paul Austin, Patrick Nyffeler); son, Adam (Heather); grandchildren, Rebecca Kathleen Austin, Jonah Calfee Austin, Eryn Kathleen Calfee, Madyson Grace Calfee and Lucy Pearl Nyffeler; very good friends, Macey Golden and Maddox Hult; sister, Shelli Loheide (Steve); brother, Stuart Douglas (Janelle) of Dallas, TX; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Please insert your name here ( ) if you, too, have ever been to Nanny's. We may not know all of you, but she sure did.
