Keith Darnell Olds
November 8, 1959 ~ July 28, 2025
Keith Darnell Olds, passed away at the age of 65, in Columbus, Indiana on July 28, 2025. Born on November 8, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, Keith's journey was marked by his adventurous spirit and friendly demeanor. His life was a tapestry interwoven with deep connections, service, and an unyielding passion for life.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Keith dedicated a portion of his life to serving his country with the same commitment he would later bring to every aspect of his existence. Following his military tenure, he explored the great expanse of the nation as an over-the-road truck driver. This expressway to adventure allowed him to share stories from coast to coast and make friends in every port of call. Moreover, Keith formerly was employed at Faurecia, where his spirit and camaraderie were as much a part of his offering as his skillful workmanship.
For 25 years, Keith was a friend of Bill W. During this time, he extended his support and kinship to many individuals, always ready with an encouraging word and a supportive smile. He was known for his infectious laughter that could lift spirits even on the most challenging of days.
Family was Keith's anchor and greatest joy. He was a loving father to Tristan Taylor-Olds and Olivia Phillips-Olds, and he cherished the memories of his son Troy Taylor-Olds who preceded him in death. His sister, Vickey Olds Sultzman, (Sophia) will miss their times together as will the echoes of shared childhood laughter with his brother, Larry Olds, sister, Patrice Olds and parents Lawrence Olds and Clara Olds, all of whom had passed before him. Keith's legacy will also live on through the love and laughter of his eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, each a testament to his kind heart and indomitable spirit.
Keith's life was a beautiful journey punctuated by laughter, shared stories, and the occasional tall tale. Whether recounting stories on the open road, or playing with his grandchildren, his spirit was both indomitable and infectious. He was the epitome of a life well-lived and well-loved.
As we bid farewell to Keith, we celebrate the essence of a man who was, above all, a kind soul and a spirited adventurer. His departure is not an end but a continuation of his journey that touched so many. Keith will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and forever celebrated.

I was saddened to learn of Keith’s passing. I looked forward to seeing him at Casey’s in the mornings and have a fun check in chat. He was always joyful and shared his wisdom, strength and hope to others through his tremendous service work. As we were both friends of Bill W I considered Keith a fellow brother who I could always count on for an honest conversation. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. It was truly a pleasure to know Keith and I believe we will meet again in gods kingdom. RIP my friend
Keith touched so many lives with his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering positivity. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, no matter who they were. One of the things I’ll miss the most is his signature post—“a beautiful day in the Belt.” It wasn’t just about the weather or the place—it was his way of reminding us to appreciate the little moments, the beauty in every day. That simple phrase captured his spirit so perfectly: grateful, present, and full of light. Rest easy, my friend. Your presence made this world brighter.

Rest in peace cousin.
Keith used to call me and stop by to visit us when he passed through South Carolina. We’d enjoy talking, joking, and catching up, till he had to get back on the road to make his scheduled stops. Always good to see his smiling face.
He’s surely missed. He leaves us with saddened hearts and teary eyes. But he also leaves us with memories that bring us joy and smiles because of his engaging personality, positivity, and humor.
My condolences go out to every family member, and every friend, as we mourn Keith’s passing.
Peace and Blessings.
