Kenneth F. Richard May 26, 1921 - July 30, 2005 Kenneth Franklin Richard, 84, of Elizabethtown, died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Kenneth lived his early life in New Albany, Indiana and graduated from Covington High School in Covington, Indiana. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater of operations from 194 to . Kenneth then moved to Columbus and was employed at Cummins Engine Company. Kenneth retired as a cost analysis engineer from Cummins Engine Company in June of 1980 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, history, gospel music and spending time with his family. Mr. Richard was born May 26, 1921 at Louisville, Ky., the son of Amzie Franklin and Cora Marie Kopp Richard. He married Velma G. Sharp on Sept. 21, 1946. Survivors include a son, Mark (Beverly) Richard of Columbus; daughters, Geraldine Strietelmeier of Columbus, Vicki L. (Jack) Hemmings of North Vernon; Carolyn S. (John) Harris of Freetown and Sheryl L. (Jerry) Barringer of Scipio; a sister, Bonnie Jean Cates of California; 10 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Richard and an infant brother; one grandchild; one greatgrandchild; and a soninlaw, John Strietelmeier.
