Kenneth O. Pennington, 75, of Tyler Drive, died at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Pennington was born and raised in Gray Hawk, KY, where he graduated from high school in 1954. He moved to Dayton, OH, where he lived until he served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After his military service, he returned to Ohio and in 1963 was employed at Jerry's Restaurant in Lexington, KY, later transferring to Columbus where he was manager for 15 years. After he left Jerry's, he owned Pennington's Construction and then retired from Adesa of Southern Indiana Auction Company. Born March 22, 1936, Mr. Pennington was the son of Andy and Della Purvis Pennington. Survivors include his wife, Violet Lakes Pennington; daughters, Donna (Bernard) Goins of Columbus and Debra Duvall of Dayton, OH; stepchildren, Teresa (Woody) Mills of Manchester, KY, Terina (James) Reuss of Fayetteville, OH, Steve Browning of Cincinnati, OH, and Randy (Debbie) Browning of Fairfield, OH; grandchildren, Amber Blair, Noah Day, Serena Jordan, Tamara Dewan, Desirae Goins, Michelle Smith, Johnny Duvall, Jason Goins and Jeremy Goins; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Koch of St. Petersburg, FL. Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith Pennington; a daughter, Vickie Carter; and sisters, Georgia Hays, Lucy Griffith, Joyce Davidson, Christine Pennington, Ruth Pennington and Diana Pennington. FUNERAL - will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with military rites by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. CALLING - will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
