SERVICES: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday July 17, 2013 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Lutes, 54, of County Road 500W, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Kevin served in Europe as a member of the United States Army. For his exceptional efforts with the United States Army Southern European Task Force in Turkey, he received the Army Commendation Medal and a Certificate of Achievement, United States Army, Europe and Seventh Army for superior performance while assigned to the 81st U.S. Army Field Artillery Group. He was an avid golfer and Indianapolis 500 fan. Born in Batesville Sept. 15, 1958, Kevin was the son of Sandy Morton Gibson of Columbus and the late James Dale Lutes. He is survived by his mother; sisters, Melinda, Debbie, Kim, Lori, Jackie and Darla; and a stepson, Christopher Jewell. He was preceded in death by his father.
