Larry Lee Acton

Larry L. Acton, 79, of Columbus, passed away January 7, 2021 at his residence with his daughter at his bedside. He was born December 24, 1941 in Kurtz, Indiana to the late Charles and Yuvonne Carpenter Acton. Larry loved to fish and he enjoyed competing with his younger brother. He graduated from Freetown High School where he played basketball. He served three years in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for 35 years at Cummins Engine Co., and was known as “Doc” at work. Larry was a health researcher and enjoyed helping people. Survivors include his long-time companion, Bernice Brown; daughter, Tonia (John) Miklas of North Vernon; step-daughter, Debra (John) Perkins, of Brownstown; brothers Bill (Ruth) Acton of Columbus, and Jerry (Sondra) Acton of Brownstown; and nephews, Richard (Kelly) Morris, Joseph (Breannan) Acton, William Acton, Jerry (Terri) Acton, Tony Acton, and Tim Acton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Willis Acton and Ellis Acton; sister, Mae Morris; brother-in-law, Richard Morris; and his nephew Robert Morris. Memorial donations may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home. Rev. Carl Green will officiate a funeral service Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Kurtz Cemetery, Kurtz, Indiana.
