Lawrence Miller

Lawrence “Larry” Miller 85, of Columbus, passed from this life on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 5:00 A.M. in W. Lafayette, IN. He had been in a nursing home there since suffering a stroke in December.
Mr. Miller was born on July 11, 1935, at home in Ingrams Creek, Letcher County, KY the fourth son of Ernest and Hattie (Cornett) Miller. He married Elizabeth “Libby” Graham on December 2, 1961.
He came to Columbus when he was 17 years old to find work. He worked at Arvin Industries for a short time until he was old enough to secure a job at Cummins. He retired in 1994 from Cummins Engine Co. after 39 years of service. He spent three years in the Indiana National Guard with one year active duty in Yakima, Washington.
He enjoyed time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren who spent many hours playing in his large yard. He and Libby loved keeping their yard well manicured. He enjoyed going out to eat with his family and many trips to Florida beaches. He and Libby loved trips to the Casinos where they made many friends.
Survivors include his sons Audie Lee (Kristin) Miller of West Lafayette, IN; and Mark Miller of Columbus; brothers, Wallace (Brenda) Miller of Elizabethtown; Bill (Connie) Miller of Florida; Jim (Robina) Miller of Columbus; sister, Earnestine (Lester) Havron of Columbus; and grandchildren, Mason Miller of W. Lafayette, Keenan Miller and Asia Miller of W. Lafayette; Marco Miller and Ryan Miller of Columbus; a special niece, Sharon (Elmer) Meredith; sisters-in-law, Nadine Miller of Columbus and Janet Miller of Taylorsville; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and many cousins and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Victor Miller; Ottis Miller; sisters, Maleda Jean (Lloyd) Gibson; Juanita (Joe) Elkins.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Visitation shall be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 and one hour prior to service time Thursday. Face mask are required. Burial Shall be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
