In loving memory of Leona Patricia Russell, 89, of Columbus, who was called into eternal life on Nov. 27, 2005, at 3:12 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 5, 1916, in Attica, Ind., she married Robert William Russell Sept. 6, 1936. Mrs. Russell lived her early life in Attica before moving to Hartford City, Ind., where she graduated from High School in 1935. She had lived in Columbus since 1966.
She loved to crochet, knit and do needlepoint. She enjoyed musical instruments, playing the organ, piano, accordion and guitar. Leona was a 65-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Purity Chapter 126 in Hartford City, Ind. She held the honor of Worthy Matron within the order. She was also an honorary member of Hartsville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 550 and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartford City, Ind.
Mrs. Russell was involved in the operation of Russells Dairy in Hartford City, Ind. She was also a dispatch operator for Courier Newsom in Columbus and retired from the admissions department at Bartholomew County Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Russell Sr., and a brother, Robert Bruce Moll, both of Hartford City.
Mrs. Russell is survived by a son, Robert William (Phyllis) Russell Jr. of Columbus, Ind.; granddaughters, Karen Russell of Marion, Ind., Dawn Marie (Therron) Walker of Dallas, Texas, and Michelle (Robert) Michalec of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Peggie Sue Russell Cleveland of Peru, Ind.; grandson, Brad Michael Cleveland of Indianapolis, Ind.; granddaughter, Patricia Louise (Andrew) Cleveland-Williams of Peru, Ind.; daughter, Marcia Kay (Dennis Sr.) Russell-Prior of Columbus, Ind.; grandsons, Dennis V. (Stacy) Prior Jr. of Columbus, Ind.; Keith A. (Christina) Prior of Columbus, Ind.; and William R. Kristi Prior of Columbus, Ind.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Breanna of Dallas, Texas, Amber, Patric and Crystal, all of San Antonio, Texas, and Andrea, Zackery, Megan, Justin, Morgan, Alexis and Madison, all of Peru; sister-in-law, Eleanor Moll of Hartford City, Ind.; cousin, Patty Main of Plainfield, Ind.; nieces, Kathleen Arnold of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Barbara (Gene) C. Brock of Eaton, Ind.; and a nephew Eric B. (Gina) Moll of Loogootee, Ind.
Pallbearers will be Robert William Russell Jr., Bradley Michael Cleveland, Dennis Vincent Prior Jr., Keith Allen Prior, William Russell Prior, Jason Carr and David Nickerson.
