Leslie Ray Penrose February 10, 1925 - November 10, 2007 Leslie Ray Penrose, 82, of Kennesaw Court, Columbus, Ind., died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Penrose retired from Reeves Pulley after 34 years of employment. He was a member of Petersville United Methodist Church for more than 45 years. After retirement he was a FairOaks Mall walker and wintered at Pine Island, Fla. for 10 years. Mr. Penrose was an Army veteran. He enjoyed photography and spending time with his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Penrose was born Feb. 10, 1925 in Bloomington, Ind., the son of Ralph and Gladys West Penrose. He married Ruby Katherine DeSpain on Sept. 15, 1945. Survivors include his wife, of Columbus; a daughter, Sandra (Harlon) Williams of Elizabethtown, Ind.; grandchildren, Alan (Amy) Williams, Greg (Connie) Williams and Kathy (Bill) Gates; and great-grandchildren, Evan Williams, Courtney and Morgan Williams and Emily and William Gates. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leonard Penrose; and a sister, Ruth Whittington-Sawyer. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerald E. Turner officiating. VISITATION: Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
