Lillie Mae Brown July 20, 1926 - March 16, 2009 Lillie Mae Brown, 82, went home to be with the Lord at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. She recently spent a month a Silver Oaks Health Campus. Mrs. Brown worked at Cummins Engine Company early in life, before she and her husband owned and operated Browns Garden Center. She attended Trinity Baptist Church. She loved selling Christmas trees, flowers, garden plants and shrubbery. Born in Brown County July 20, 1926, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of Tom and Ida Mae Mullis Barger. She married Thurman Brown May 5, 1945. Survivors include daughters, Betty J. (Larry) Johnson and Helen L. (George) Crase, both of Columbus; a sister, Delores Wright of Bloomington; grandchildren, Larry (Susie) and Brent Garrison, both of Columbus, Brian (Emily) Crase of Brown County, Kristen (Justin) and Michael Brown, both of Columbus, Larry Price Johnson of Ohio, Ashley (Tony) Lucas of Columbus and Tommy Shepherd of Indianapolis; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Crase, Drake and Brodie Lucas, Alexandria Brown and Haley Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, David Earl Brown; a daughter, Phyllis Shepherd Neville; brothers, Guy, Butch and Junior Barger; and sisters, Alpha Black, Marie Garrison and Vella Barger. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Revs. J.C. Brown and Jerry Ballard officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Donations Information MEMORIALS: donors choice of charities.
