Loretta M. Katterhenry

Loretta Mae Walden Katterhenry, 76, of Columbus, Indiana, died at 12:52 a.m. Thursday August 3, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility with her devoted husband by her side after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Loretta was born June 28, 1941, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, the daughter of William Clyde and Clara Belle Bowles Walden. She married Edgar Katterhenry on December 19, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church, Columbus, Indiana. Loretta loved to work in the garden, and canning and freezing the vegetables she raised. She also loved working in her green house. She loved to make quilts, gifting many of them and she enjoyed working at Pit Stop at Asbury United Methodist Church where she attended. She also enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, with friends and family. Loretta was a 45 year member of Gamma Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi National Sorority. She actively served as an officer on the Chapter level, Regional level, and National level. She served as National President two years and Chairman of the Board two years. She was devoted to her Sorority and loved her sorority Sisters. She worked at Courier Newsom Express in accounting for 15 years and as a Life and Health insurance agent until she retired. Loretta is survived by her husband of 46 years; one brother, William Franklin (Adalene) Walden of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Clara Winona Simpson of Crossville, Tennessee, Judy Ann Giles of Anderson, Indiana and Bessie Belva (Jimmy) Bagshaw of Burkesville, Kentucky; five nieces; and four nephews. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
