Loretta R. Hays, 49, of Yellowwood Drive, left this world Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room. Mrs. Hays attended Hope Community Church. She was a loving and caring person with a heart of gold. She will be missed dearly but never will be forgotten. Born in Glasgow, Ky., Dec. 24, 1961, Mrs. Hays was the daughter of Kenneth R. and Elizabeth L. Shields Smith. She married Roger D. Hays Sr. May 20, 1978. Survivors include her loving husband; her parents, of Columbus; a son, Anthony Dix of Columbus, IN; daughters, Alesha (James) Cravens of Tennessee and Monica (Rob) Turner of Columbus, IN; a brother, Jeff Smith of Noblesville, IN; sisters, Linda Meranda of Columbus, Brenda (Bill) Lewis of Columbus and Kimberly (Ashley Kelsay) Smith of Columbus; two beautiful grandchildren, Austin Turner and Brooklyn Cravens; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger D. Hays II; Grandpa and Grandma Smith and Grandpa and Grandma Shields; a nephew, Kenny Hays; and a niece, Bridget Wall. SERVICES: FUNERAL - will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Hancock officiating. CALLING - will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday. BURIAL - will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS - may be made to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.

  4. My heart aches for the loss of a dear sweet friend. I know that shes in heaven and smiling, happy to be reunited withher son. I could see her pain and the heartache she carried whenever she would speak of him. Please know you are ALL in my thoughts and prayers and she will be sadly missed.
