Lowell "Junior" Weidman June 01, 1933 - March 03, 2007 Lowell Mervyn Weidman Jr., 73, was born June 1, 1933 at French Lick, Ind. He was the son of Ora Jackson and Lowell Weidman Sr. He married Janet Elaine Shireman of Columbus on July 27, 1952. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Pam (JD) Denton of North Vernon, Ind., Bev (Michael) Stein of Millport, Ind. and Nancy (Carl) Smith of Azalia, Ind.; a son, Ron (Chris) Weidman of Elizabethtown, Ind.; five grandchildren, Kimber Loyd, Jeremy Clark, Mindee Pike, Megan Boyd and Jordan Weidman; six great-grandchildren, Chase and Calib Loyd, Jeremy and Brandon Clark and Kaylin and Jesse Miller; his brother, Don (Becky) Weidman of Hanover, Ind.; and stepfather, Walter Bright of Madison, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Toby Placek. Lowell served in the United States Army with active duty in the Korean War stationed in Munich Germany from 1953 to 1955 receiving Honorable Discharge. He was owner of Weidmans Market, Weidmans Mobile Home Sales and Transport, Weidmans Mobile Home Park and Weidmans Woodworking. He served as Elizabethtown Fire Chief, Elizabethtown Town Marshall from 1972 to 1977, Plant Manager of Cubeco, Inc. and President of the Hoosier Hillbillies Camping Club and was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association. Lowell as an avid camper and loved to travel, his latest trip was with his wife to Alaska. He had many hobbies including woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family and pet dog Cocoa. He loved the mountains and was planning a trip to the Grand Canyon in April. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ronnie Greves officiating. VISITATION: Tuesday, March 6, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
