Marcella B. Jones February 05, 1918 - June 27, 2010 Marcella was born in Niantic, Illinois, February 5, 1918, the daughter of Ollie and Grace Baughn. She died at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Marcella lived in Oakland City until moving to Columbus in 1941, where she married Robert F. Jones. They reared two children, R. Gordon Jones and Gloria Lynn Throne. There also are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all surviving. Marcella was southeast director and vice president of the Garden Club of Indiana, a member of Columbus Symphony Orchestra, playing violin for twelve years. She had served on the Foundation for Youth board, had been president of Bartholomew County Girl Scouts, served as president and secretary of Bartholomew County Genealogical Society, was a member of Zonta International and a caregiver in Hospice. Following the death of her husband Robert Jones in 1979, she operated Columbus Economy Furniture until closing the business in 1984. Funeral Information A memorial gathering will be held at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th Street, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday July 2.
