Marian Beverly (Totten) Tingley, 86, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Franciscan Health-St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Beverly was born November 11, 1936, in Alexis, Illinois, the daughter of Sherman Arthur and Marie Anna Bair Totten. She married Francis David “Bud” Tingley Jr. on October 4, 1959, and he survives. She graduated from high school in Alexis, Illinois, before attending Northwestern Dental School in Chicago and began working at Galesburg Research Hospital as a hygienist/psychiatric aide. After completing her dental hygiene degree, she went to work for Dr. Hodierne in Galesburg from 1969-1981. Beverly was a long-standing member of the First Nazarene Church in Galesburg, Illinois where she enjoyed serving in the roles of NWMS president, work and witness trips, Sunday school teacher and aide to the treasurer. She was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Columbus, Indiana. Having been raised on a farm, Beverly always loved animals and having a family dog. She enjoyed gardening, baking and teaching children. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday January 23, 2023 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Columbus, Indiana, with Pastor Travis Stamper officiating. Calling will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home 3855 25th Street Columbus, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. She will be laid to rest in the East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Nazarene World Missions. Survivors include her husband, David “Bud”, Jr.; daughter, Michelle Iva Marie (Mike) Walls of Nashville, Indiana; sons, Francis David (Gerardo) Tingley III of Boston, MA and Todd Jason (Sheryl) Tingley of Bismarck, Illinois; brother, William Arthur Totten of Galesburg, Illinois; sister, Constance Sue Kremer of DeWitt, Iowa; and grandchildren, Matthew David Walls, William Michael Walls, Lauren Nicole Tingley and Andrew Nicholas Tingley. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Paul Arthur Tingley and her sister, Shirley Jane Mueller.   2. David, so sorry for your lost. You and Bev were the best neighbors ever. So enjoyed time with you and appreciated your assistance and friendship. You both have been missed since your move. Sorry i wasn’t able to visit you. Shari and I are still at 3175 Chapel Court , but she has macular degeneration and fuchs dystrophy and is legally blind so we are pretty much homebodies. Prayers for you at this time of loss.
