Marie Burton December 27, 1931 - October 13, 2009 Marie Burton, 77, of Beech Court, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Burton worked at the former C.P. Electronics for 20 years and also had been employed at Columbus Regional Hospital, Arvin Industries and Cummins Engine Co. She was affiliated with First Baptist Church and loved working in the yard, reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and cross stitch. She doted on her great-grandchildren and her faithful pet, Yogi. Born in Metcalfe County, Ky., Dec. 27, 1931, Mrs. Burton was the daughter of Basil and Dora England Fields. She married James Lee Burton Oct. 13, 1950. He preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1987. Survivors include a son, Danny Lee (Anita) Burton of Columbus; a brother, James Thomas (Mary) Fields of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Betty Jean (Bill) Saltsman and Joyce Ann (Ronnie) Houshour, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Lindsay Dawn (Kevin) McIntosh of Monroe, IN and Andrew Philip (Amanda) Burton of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Landon Carl McIntosh, Karston Lee McIntosh and Haley Marie Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, the Rev. Henry T. Fields, Paul W. Fields and John Philip Fields; half brothers, Carlos E. Fields and Garnet Fields; a sister, Barbara Harper; and a half sister, Flossie Bowling. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Cash officiating.
