Marilyn F. Burkitt, 81, of Timbercrest Drive died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Burkitt retired from Reliance Electric where she was a machinist. She was a former inspector at the Coca-Cola-Bottling Co., and also worked at Brunnings and Yulas clothing stores. She was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, working with the churchs Relief Society and youth group. She was a former den mother of Cub Scout Troop No. 69.
She was very proud of her husbands service in the Army during World War II.
Born in Perryville, Ky., June 9, 1927, Mrs. Burkitt was the daughter of Ferdinand and Mary Lillie Reynolds Carpenter. She married Robert B. Burkitt Jan. 1, 1946. He preceded her in death April 20, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Jerry M. Bear (Sue) Burkitt of Columbus; a daughter, Joy L. (Lynn) Zeigler Lykins of Columbus; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: A private family funeral will be conducted Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
VISITATION: Will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Donations Information
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Alzheimers Association.
