Marjorie S. Montgomery January 21, 1926 - February 13, 2008 Marjorie S. Montgomery, 82, of Columbus died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Montgomery sold Avon from 1955 to 1976, had been employed by JayC Food Store, Shopper's Fair, was owner of Montgomery's Day Care from 1976 to 1991 and was employed at Kmart from 1994 to 2001. She was a member of First Christian Church, the 3 M's Sunday School Class, Bartholomew County Senior Center and the Red Hat Society. During her life, she was a 4-H leader in Scott County, a foster parent and Gold Star Mother. Her hobbies included bowling, line dancing, gardening, crocheting, traveling and a good game of cards or Dominos with family and friends. Born in Daviess County Jan. 21, 1926, Mrs. Montgomery was the daughter of Albert Edgar and Alie Martisha Roark Stanton. She married Ira Richard Montgomery, Sr. Dec. 24, 1943. Survivors include daughters: Martishia L. (David E.) Graff of Carmel; Marquita A. (Bill) Tuck of Columbus; Marlena K. (Jim) Martin of Springport and Mardawna L. (John) Grover of Noblesville; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Montgomery of Columbus; a sister, Thelma Gustin of Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Michelle Boyd, Christin Stuhrenberg, Michael Boyd, Rob Cravens, Denise Zaharako, Ira Richard Montgomery III, Rachelle Zollman, Amy Anderson, Ryan Martin, Kimberly Graff, Cheryl Turner and Tom Martin; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 14, 1988; a son, Ira Richard Montgomery, Jr.; brothers, Harley and Louis Stanton; and sisters, Mary Stanton, Bessie Stanton and Ruth Hooper. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time Monday.
