Schaefer, 63, of Hartsville, died at 11:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mark was a pyrotechnician who loved hunting, fishing and making fishing lures. Born in Columbus, March 18, 1950, Mark was the son of Edward Schaefer and Naomi Jeanette Newland Grider. He married Connie G. Bryant Aug. 23, 1969. Survivors include his wife; sons, Mark E. (Jaime Gregory) Schaefer of Columbus and Timothy S. Schaefer of Hartsville; a daughter, Amy S. (Todd) Hayes of Scipio; and a brother, Craig (Rita) Schaefer of Seymour.

Sorry to hear about Mark passing away. Some of the best times of my life were when Mark, Craig and I spent time at the “cabin” along the banks of Clifty Creek near Rugby. We spent many hours tramping in the woods fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping and trapping. Thanks Mark and Craig for those memories. Your “Cuz” Bill Garten

Mark was one of my neighborhood friends in East Columbus; I remember him as easy to be around;he had a positive attitude and laughed a lot. It was nice to see the pictures of his life; he looked loved and fulfilled. I am sure he will be missed by many.
