MEMORIAL SERVICE: 6:00 p.m. Wednesday April 17, 2013 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Military rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. OFFCIATING CLERGY: Rev. Philo Jones and Ronnie Crawford VISITATION: 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednessday at the funeral home Marston Mitchell, 67, of Chandler Lane, died at 11:36 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Marston was raised in Whitesburg, Kentucky, where he was born Nov. 14, 1945, the son of Isaac Mitchell and Vera Boggs Mitchell. He moved to Columbus in 1965, and married Cynthia Baldwin July 27, 1968. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1996. Marston was an avid outdoorsman who loved gardening and mushroom and gensing hunting. He had a great love for his children and grandchildren. Survivors include sons, Kevin (Tammy) Mitchell and Matt (Lori) Mitchell, both of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Mason Mitchell, Ethan Mitchell, Kolby Mitchell, and Ali Mitchell; his former wife, Cynthia Mitchell, Columbus, IN; brothers, Billy Ray Mitchell and Hiram "Tug" Mitchell; and sisters, Pearlie Ross and Wanda Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilkie Mitchell, Elwood Mitchell, Isaac Mitchell Jr. and Jerry Mitchell; and sisters, Minnie Mitchell and Darlene Weaver.
