Martin N. Riddle May 14, 1912 - April 26, 2006 Martin N. Riddle, 93, of Central Avenue died at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Riddle was a former employee of Cummins Engine Co. and also had been a steamfitter at a defense plant. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and was awarded five Battle Stars. After serving his country, Mr. Riddle farmed and drove a truck for Courier Newsom. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing ball and yard work and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. Born in Clinton County, Ky., May 14, 1912, Mr. Riddle was the son of Samuel and Sarah Catherine Scott Riddle. He married Jessie Pauline Davisson Sept. 4, 1937. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bruce H. (Marsha) Riddle of South Carolina; a daughter, Jean A. (William III) Robbins of Columbus; grandchildren, Lisa Kay (Joe) Carr, Olivia (Christian) Sutherland, Andrew Riddle, Cheryl (Doug) Weddle and John (Tracie) Robbins; a sister, Helena Riddle Gomel of Columbus; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Robbins; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Sutherland; brothers, Taylor, Stanley, Marvin, Delmar and Virgil Riddle; and sisters, Stella Scott, Elva Carter, Ocie Misner and Catherine Riddle. Funeral Information VISITATION: Thursday April 27, 2006 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. FUNERAL: Friday April 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
