Marvin D. Artist, 78, of Columbus, passed away on November 9, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1945, to the late Arthur Artist, and Maye Moore Artist, and was the husband of Pam Artist, who survives him.
After graduating from Brown County High School, Marvin worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Hartup Tool and Die. He was also an employee of Cummins Engine Co. and Permawick. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling out, woodworking, and driving through the backroads of Brown County. His favorite things to do were spending time with his family, and watching his grandsons play sports.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Artist, of Columbus, Indiana; daughter, Michelle (Tom) Thomson, of Carmel, Indiana; nephews, Larry Webber, of Nashville, Indiana, Keith Rogers, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Doug Webber, of Columbus, Indiana; sister, LouAnn Butler, of Nashville, Indiana, and grandsons, Braden, and Andrew Thomson, of Carmel, Indiana.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur, and Maye Artist; sister, Marilyn Sue Anderson; brother, Gary Artist; and nephew, Chris Rogers.
The service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023, also at the funeral home.
Those wishing may make memorial donations through the funeral home to the Tyler Trent Foundation.

I am so sorry that Marvin has passed. He was my Facebook friend and my Van Buren schoolmate. Marvin was always so nice. I’m sure going to miss him. Sending my love and sympathy to all his family and friends.
