Marvin Dean Root, 66, of 15th Street, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Marvin was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Cummins Fuel Systems in 2009 after 44 years of service. He loved fishing, cooking and experimenting with recipes, along with spending time with friends and family.
Born in Ashland, Wis., June 29, 1947, Marvin was the son of Theodore Root and Dorothy Charlotte Root. He married Gail England April 12, 1969.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bryan (Janice) Root, Columbus, IN; a daughter, Amy Rockwell, Columbus, IN; brothers, Paul Root and Frank Root, both of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Walters, Ridge Pearl, Dalton (Jordan Purvis) Brumett, Brayton Brumett, Savannah Root, Sydney Root, and Landon Root; and a great-granddaughter, Allison Walters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Marla Gail Root and Tiffany Lanae (Rodney) Brumett; and a grandson, Christopher Pearl.
