Rev. Marvin L. Hughes September 10, 1934 - December 22, 2008 MOUNT VERNON, Ind. Reverend Marvin L. Hughes, 74, of Mount Vernon, passed away at 4:12 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital. Marvin was born was born September 10, 1934, in Jennings County, Indiana, to Sherman W. and Elsie (Allee) Hughes. He received his B.A. from Frankfort Pilgrim College. Marvin loved serving the Lord in Southern Indiana, where he pastored in Otwell, French Lick, Shelbyville and at the Forest Hills Wesleyan Church in Evansville. He then served as district superintendent of the Wesleyan Church for Southern Indiana for 8 years in Orleans and retired to then pastor at Ft. Branch Wesleyan Church. During those years, Marvin also served as a trustee for Indiana Wesleyan University for 19 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Roberta Hughes of Mount Vernon; four daughters, Jewell (Dr. Gene) Flick of Evansville, Acacia (Mike) Peak of Evansville, Marlissa (Michael) Stauffer of Hilliard, Ohio, and Jennifer (Darrin) Eaton of Evansville; grandchildren, Joshua Flick, Amanda Flick, Alexander Flick, Clayton Flick, Allee Peak, Olivia Stauffer, Madison Eaton, Abbyanna Eaton, Emma Eaton, Ellie Eaton and Judah Eaton; and one brother, Melvin W. Hughes of Knightstown, Ind. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, 2801 Claremont Avenue, Evansville, with Dr. Earle Wilson and Reverend William Oden officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, Indiana, and again from 10 a.m. to service time at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the church. BURIAL: Will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
