  1. Heaven has gained an angel; the world has lost a warrior. Mike was the essence of a good man, great friend, and fantastic colleague. It was always a pleasure to see Mike in the halls of Ivy Tech and enjoying the friendship of our home. He is missed as a treasured friend. To his devoted wife, loving son, and the newest apple of his eye, the precious grandson, you will always remain in our thoughts and constantly in our hearts. John Wm. Roberts & Thomas A. Weintraut, Jr. Opelika, Alabama

  2. I worked with Mike at Ivy Tech and I never met him in the hallways without a smile. Heaven gained an amazing angel. He constantly bragged on his grandbaby like crazy! My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this loss.

  3. I enjoyed working with Mike at Ivy Tech. Mike was full of laughter and lightand he always put a smile on your face. He will be missed.

  4. I had the absolute pleasure to be Mike’s neighbor. Mike and I would have talks in the yard on weekends and short greetings in the morning during the week. Mike always shined with the light of Christ, as I believe that our Savior lived in his heart. I will miss Mike dearly and eagerly await the day when I can sing praises to the Father together with him in heaven.

  5. Mike was a great friend and colleague. He and his wife were tremendously supportive when my wife Linda passed away last month. God bless you, my friend. Rest in peace.

  6. Many times Mike with out of his way for my students, to help them understand Math. During this hard time I will keep you, the family, in my prayers.

  7. I didn’t work directly with Mike but I did work with him at statewide Ivy Tech events. For me he will be remembered for his constant smile, his positive attitude, and his love for his students. I can’t help but believe that he treated all with the same kindness. He is a shining example of how we should treat others.

  8. Michael was one of the friendliest people that I worked with at Ivy Tech. He always had a smile on his face and always took the time to talk and say hi in the hallways. He always had a joke to tell that would brighten up your day. It was a joy and a privilege to have known and worked with Michael.

  9. Mike was a special colleague. His smile and positive attitude brightened the day for many in the Ivy Tech halls and classrooms. Mike will be missed.

  10. Michael, Please know that I join my prayer at this time to yours and those of your Mom, Graciela, Aaron and all your family. May your Dad’s soul rest in the peace of the Lord. May he know the reward of the saints in heaven. And, may you be comforted by the sure and certain hope of the resurrection of us all in Christ Jesus.

  11. I am sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He always was welcoming and helpful to me during my time working with him at Ivy Tech in Columbus. Even when I returned for occasional professional development he was among the first to see how I was doing. A good guy all the way around that was very invested in his work and the success of his students. My thoughts are with the family and his friends.

  12. I will always remember Mike’s quick smile, great sense of humor, and passion for teaching math! I have taught as an adjunct faculty member and for dual credit high school classes for at least 10 years now. He has always been a great leader and a warm, friendly presence at Ivy Tech. I will truly miss working with him and can only express my extreme sadness and his sudden passing.

  13. Mike and I worked together on the Math Curriculum Committee at Ivy Tech. He always brought a smile and encouraging word. He will be greatly missed.

  14. Mike was such a kind and gentle man, he never passed my office door without stopping to chat for just a few moments. He will be deeply missed.

  15. I was sad to hear of Mike’s sudden passing. He was always a friendly face at Ivy Tech and many of my English students commented on what a great teacher he was and recommended him to other students. I will miss seeing him in the halls. Prayers for all of you!

  16. I enjoyed having Mr. Spencer as an instructor, he was one of the main reasons I passed college level math, going back to ivy tech will never be the same

  17. With much sadness yet with much joy I know Toby has gone to be Gordon to laugh and sing a tune of happiness. Be at peace my dear. Hugs, T

  18. Mike will be missed here at Ivy Tech. He was always upbeat and smiling, and had the great gift for teaching a difficult subject. Condolences to the family.

  19. Mike was the epitome of a great man. He was a great father, a great husband, and a great friend and colleague. He was just as others have described-full of light, full of laughter, and full of love. May God give those who are grieving peace in the days, weeks, and months to come. He will be deeply missed by so many.
