Michael D. Freeman, 59, of Nineveh, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Freeman, graduated from Columbus North High School in 1968. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps after two years of service. He was a steam-fitter and welder for local union No. 440 until he retired in 2005.
His hobbies included welding and teaching others to weld, fishing with friends and family, tinkering around the house in Nineveh and, upon his retirement, helping friends and family with everything.
A friend of Bill, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a great friend, mentor, son, brother, husband, father and grandfather to all of his friends and family. We will miss you friend, son, brother, husband, dad and grandpa.
Born Feb. 12, 1950 in Union County, Ky., Mr. Freeman was the son of Harry and Betty Sosh Freeman. He married Mary Gehrke.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Sosh Freeman, of Columbus; wife, Mary Gehrke Freeman; sons, David, John (Amy Michelle) and James Redlin, all of Columbus; daughter, Michelle (Jason) Wray, of Columbus; a brother Nelson Freeman of Newburgh, Indiana; sisters, Sara Green, of Columbus, and Nancy Towe, of Madisonville, Ky.; grandchildren, Derrick, K.T., Audrey, Garrison, Evan, Nikol and Dylan.
Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Information
FUNERAL: Will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Richard Yeaton officiating.
VISITATION: Will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
