Michael Patrick Vanwhy, 59, of Columbus, passed away at 11:32 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Franklin Meadows in Franklin, IN. Michael was born in Franklin, IN on October 14, 1963 to Harry Vanwhy Jr. and Bessie M. Price Vanwhy.
Michael loved spending time with his family and friends. He had played drums in a band with his brother Roland and he enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Per Michael’s request, cremation is planned, there will be a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Tritton Vanwhy of Columbus, IN, Zach (Kendra) Vanwhy of Greenwood, IN, Danielle (Nathan) Sedam of Columbus, IN and Jason Atkins of Dallas, TX; a brother, Roland Vanwhy of Edinburgh, IN; grandson, Ryan Sedam, niece, MaryAnn Howard, nephew, Joe Vanwhy and his faithful four legged companion, Rufus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bessie Vanwhy; brother, Ronald Vanwhy and sister-in-law, Teresa Vanwhy.

Michael and I was very close friends very dear to my heart he took me to the thunder of Louisville to see the bridge lit up with lights our younger years we hung out for a long while I’m sad my dear friend has passed prayers for friends and family
Sorry to hear about Mike,he and I were neighbors and friends for several years.
Michael and grew up in the same neighborhood,had a lot of fun playing ball in the backyard,also enjoyed hearing him play the drums,he was as a good friend and will be greatly missed
