Mildred M. Burris, 81, of Central Avenue, died at 10:20 a.m. September 14, 2016, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation. Mildred was born July 14, 1935, in Edmonton, Kentucky, the daughter of Roy and Mamie Coomer Fields. She married Woodruff "Woody" Burris November 29, 1952. Mildred enjoyed singing gospel music with her husband at area churches and nursing homes. She loved sewing, quilting and crocheting. She loved helping others, especially her family. Survivors include her sons, Ricky (Sheila) Burris and Randy (Gina) Burris, both of Columbus; daughters, Judy Enochs of Columbus and Kathy (Gene) Kelsay of Elizabethtown; sisters, Ernestine (Jim) Bryant of Columbus, Helen Louise (Paul) Riley of Austin, Indiana, and Tilda Froedge of Edmonton, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woody; brother, Thomas "Junior" Fields; sisters, Mary Lou Riley and Alice Coomer; and two great-grandchildren.

My grandmother, was a wonderful, carrying woman with one of the biggest hearts… She was filled with compassion , she loved to sing, she also loved seeing… Not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother but a Christian woman devoting everything for the Lord… She taught Mme so much about life and how to love…Thank you grandma Burris for everything I love you and always will…I know what Family means all because of you and pa….Thank you God for giving me these grandparents and teaching me how a family are suppose to be and how there normal was normal…Please take care of each other up there and please keep being my guardian angel…I will always need you both..I love you and I promise u will c me up there someday…I will b coming home to you.
