Mitchell was born October 15, 1960, in Columbus, the son of Lindel Burdeen and Virginia Ann Johnson Gilley. Mitchell was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and watching movies. He was a kind, gentle and loving man who was well loved by all his family and friends. Survivors include his mother, Virginia; sons, Josh D. Gilley and Justin M. Gilley, both of Columbus; brother, Gregory Dean (Dianna) Gilley of Columbus; sister, Pamela Ann (Chalmer) Gilley of Columbus; and grandchildren, Wyley Gilley, Owen Gilley and Ember Gilley. He was preceded in death by his father, Lindel.

  1. Mitch, I already miss your smile. When you came into my life many years ago I knew you were going to be my soul mate.I loved you very much while we were married. We had wonderful 13 years together.although we went our seperate ways, we were still friends and loved each other very much. Im grateful for all the wonderful times of laughter, vacations, camping, and especially all the memories. Even when you got sick, we managed to spend time together and Im glad I was there for you. I wouldnt have had it any other way. You will always remain in my heart and be the love of my life. God has you in his arms now and I have you in my heart. Fly high my love , I know you are up there fishing and watchin over all of us. I will always love you.

  2. Dad, I will always love you and you will always be in my heart. I have always considered you my dad and you have always been there for me as your own daughter. I had you as a wonderful dad, and couldnt have asked for a better man to have married you. I will always remember the great times together growing up, the laughter, the joking, the camping, the trips we all took, the vacations we went on Good has you in his arms now and I have all the memories that will stay in my heart forever. I am so greatful I had a dad like you to help raise me I have and will always consider you as my family and my dad. I never stopped calling and telling people you were my dad. From the time me and mom moved in together I knew u would anyways be my dad, u had one of the most biggest hearts of anyone I know. I know you loved me as a daughter and will never forget how happy you were when I asked you to be in my wedding. I love you with all my heart n soul. God has an angel, you have your wings to fly high, and I have the memories locked in my heart. So go do what u do best jokes and teasing ur loved ones.   3. We are terribly sorry for your familys loss and hope God gives you peace and comfort during this time. We are sorry that we are unable to attend services.
