Morris was born October 23, 1926, in Columbus, the son of Ed H. and Mary C. Armuth Scheidt. He married Marian J. Wagner September 19, 1948. Morris graduated from Columbus High School and was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army from 1945 to 1946 as a T/5 in Germany. He was a lifelong farmer, a school bus driver for 23 years, and retired as an assistant engineer with the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the Jury Commission of Bartholomew County Courts, a former member of the Bartholomew County Beverage Commission, and served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and Columbus Township Advisory Board. Morris was also Bartholomew County vice-president and treasurer of Farm Bureau where he was a member for 67 years, and vice-president of Bartholomew County German Mutual Insurance Company. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Marian; children, Linda (Larry) Pumphrey, Douglas (Linda) Scheidt and Brian (Kimberly) Scheidt, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) Luse, Kimberly (Brian) Bennett, Amanda M. Mitchell, Erin Scheidt, Christopher (Tiffany) Scheidt, Jason (Stephanie) Scheidt and Kristen Scheidt; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marilyn E.
