Naomi Jean Force Goble October 05, 1922 - June 08, 2010 Naomi Jean Force Goble, 87, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Mrs. Goble was born October 5, 1922, in Martin County, Indiana, to Helen (Bartels) and Carl C. Force. She was a 1940 graduate of Columbus High School and received a B.S. degree from Central Normal College where she was affiliated with Alpha Theta Epsilon sorority and Kappa Phi Beta honorary. She received an M.S. from Indiana University and did post graduate work at Indiana and Purdue Universities. She was a teacher for 38 years, teaching at Jackson School in Decatur County, East Columbus, Grammer and Rockcreek School in Bartholomew County. Mrs. Goble was a member of Waynesburg Christian Church where she taught Sunday school classes and served for over 50 years as organist and pianist and was a member of Waynesburg Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of Zeta Nu Chapter of Psi Iota Xi of Alert / North Vernon chapters. She was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association as well as Greensburg Chapter of Retired Teachers, Open Door Christian Writers Literary Club and Hi Nabor Extension Homemakers Club. She was widely known for her historical presentations, portraying a pioneer woman and playing music on a saw. She was a story teller, writer of poetry and stories for children and a volunteer in several capacities. On December 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Hubert W. Goble. He preceded her in death August 5, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Steven Goble, who passed away December 11, 1993; her parents; a brother, Donald V. Force; and a sister, Joyce Joy Force Mitchell. She is survived by a son, S. Thomas Goble of Ellettsville; a daughter, Nancy (Stan) Meyer of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Marlene (R.D) Zink; grandchildren, Laura Bledsoe of Fairland, Krista Jones of Danville, Trena Goble Roush and Sean Goble of Noblesville, Jennifer Steinwedel and Megan Mathews of Columbus, and Kevin Meyer of West Lafayette; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Gavin, Kennedy and Braxton Jones, Bryce and Jillian Bledsoe, Madelyn, Lauren and Lillian Steinwedel, Samuel and Maggie Mathews and Mason Goble. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Burnett officiating. CALLING: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
