SERVICES: 3:00 P.M. Sunday August 24, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Glenn Pointer VISITATION: 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home Frances "Nelene" Palmer, 85, of Center St, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Nelene was born April 20, 1929 in Albertsville, Alabama, the daughter of John and Lonie McWhorter Ogle. She married Marshal B. Palmer. Nelene was raised during the depression and helped raise her siblings. She loved working hard and had picked cotton in Alabama. She owned R&M Bike Shop and Columbus Palmer Sewer Service. Nelene also delivered newspapers for the Indianapolis Star and worked at Jen Acres in North Vernon. Nelene enjoyed fishing, flowers, canning, cooking and repairing bicycles. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing and her two dogs, Copper and Cricket. The funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Nelene's memory to Love Chapel through the funeral home. Survivors include her children, Marshall and Pattie Palmer, Rick Palmer and Sharon Smock all of Columbus and Judith Kennedy of Seymour; brother, Kenneth Ogle of Columbus; sister, Doris Taylor of Augusta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshal; parents, John and Lonie Ogle; brother, Jerald Ogle; and sister, a Flossie Dampier.
