Norma Jean Halsey May 03, 1922 - April 02, 2009 Norma J. Halsey, 86, of Brooks Street died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs. Halsey was a member of Garden City Church of Christ. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and working with flowers. Born in Bartholomew County May 3, 1922, Mrs. Halsey was the daughter of Joseph and Otilla Koehler Chasteen. She married Lewis Halsey Aug. 5, 1944. Survivors include a son, John Lewis (Susan) Halsey of Columbus; daughters, Betty Jo (James) Goforth of Columbus and Nancy Ann (Charles) Elkins of Brown County; grandchildren, Rita (Larry Priddy Jr.) Baldwin, Chris (Casper) Sipes, Michael Halsey, Karen Halsey and Andrea Elkins; and great-grandchildren, Amber and Jessica Sipes, Casper Sipes Jr., Jonathon Halsey and Brianna Kimball. Mr. Halsey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 6, 2004; a brother, Joe Chasteen; and sisters, Doloris Kirts and Wanda Hilderbrand. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 and from noon until service time Tuesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. Mrs. Halsey was a member of Garden City Church of Christ. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and working with flowers.
