SERVICES: FUNERAL: Will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. BURIAL: Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Odean Likens, 89, of Hiker Trace, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at her home. Odean retired from Sap's Bakery, now known as Dolly Madison, in 1985 after 23 years of service. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially cooking for them. Odean had a great sense of humor. She was a very kind and giving person, always thinking of others before herself. Born in Union Hill, Tenn., Oct. 9, 1923, Odean was the daughter of Luther Smith and Eliza Cherry Smith. She married William Amos Likens, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Jack Likens, Columbus, IN; a daughter, Sandy (Robert) Proffitt, Columbus, IN; a sister, Eselene Anderson, Sullivan, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Lisa) Likens, Brad Likens, Dale (Alison) Likens, Brooke (David) Salisbury, Taylor Wolford and Hunter Wolford; and great-grandchildren, Tristan, Carson, Jack, William, Ben, Henry, Neal and Jerry Likens. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Jerry Likens; four brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Susan Likens.

sandy all those years ago i remember seeing your mom at ball games but we were kids and i never met her but the passing of my mom in 2004 was the sadest day you feel like you lost your best friend and mentor which in one way you did but in a bigger way you didnt she may not be here in body but all her wisdowm is within you along with her love for you and your family so in this time of sorrow chin up feel the cool breeze on your cheecks that is your mom giving you kisses prayer are with you
Jack & Family: You know your Mother has always held a very special place in my heart. She will be remembered as a kind hearted and dear person to all that knew her. My prayers and sympathy goes out to you and your family.
Odean was a very good friend to me, always called to check in with me, I will miss her dearly. Ella Mae and the Murray family.
