Parker DeHaven Dodge
November 1, 1940 ~ August 11, 2023
Parker DeHaven Dodge, age 82, passed away on August 11, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and achievement. Born on November 11, 1940, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Parker was the son of the late Parker Day Dodge and Virginia DeHaven Dodge. On June 17, 1961, he joined hands with Patricia Kaye Dodge, his lifelong partner and true love, marking the beginning of an enduring journey together.
Parker's path was one adorned with accomplishments and an unbridled zest for life. After his graduation from Charlestown High School, he embarked on an academic pursuit that led him to a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Purdue University. This academic foundation laid the groundwork for a distinguished 35-year tenure at Cummins, Inc, where he thrived in the realm of International Business Management. A fervent traveler, Parker's globe-trotting escapades, accompanied by his beloved Pat, included traversing the Amazon Forest, cruising the Yangtze, and admiring the beauty of the Taj Mahal. These sojourns, coupled with his numerous journeys across Asia, Europe, and South America, enriched his life with experiences that were as diverse as they were cultured. Hong Kong remained his perennial favorite.
Parker's versatility testified to his ingenuity and compassion. With meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering pursuit of perfection, he came to embody the moniker "Mr. Perfect." Beyond his remarkable talents, Parker's benevolent nature touched the lives of all who crossed his path. His warm embrace extended to family, friends, and neighbors alike, solidifying his position as a cornerstone of his community. A reliable pillar, he was affectionately known as the "keeper of the Harem," always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
A man who held his relationships dear, Parker reveled in the company of friends at the Mill Race Community Center, engaging in spirited card games. Alongside Pat, he savored winters in Arizona, Florida, and California, forging precious memories in warmer climes.
Parker's essence was defined by love, and his spirit will endure through the narratives shared by those who cherished him most. He is survived by his cherished wife Pat of Columbus, and his sons: Tip and wife Patty Dodge of Greenwood, Paul and Josie Dodge of Columbus, and Phil Dodge of Newport Beach, California. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister Ann Merriman, brother-in-law Darryl Fry, beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a steadfast circle of lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mill Race Community Center through the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. A celebration of Parker's extraordinary life and lasting legacy will be arranged for a later date, offering an opportunity for those who held him dear to unite in commemorating his memory.

I worked with Parker in Cummins Purchasing in the early 70’s. Always liked him. He had an outgoing personality.
I have been privileged to know Parker and Patricia over the last few years. Their love for one another has been inspiring and heart-warming. Patricia, I will always remember your skydiving and Parker driving a sports car last year. Each time we met I felt uplifted by your lovely personalities. May God give you a sense of peace in knowing that you and Parker have shared a wonderful life together and that he is always with you in your heart. Cheri Wildridge
