Patricia "Pat" Swinney November 19, 1949 - April 08, 2011 Patricia Pat Swinney, 61, of Carolina Street, died at 9:08 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Pat, at a young age, was reared by her stepmother, Inez E. Swinney, after her mother passed away. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1969. Pat enjoyed landscaping and gardening, creating beautiful areas around her home. She loved her family and especially bonded with her nieces and nephews and provided significant support for them throughout their lives, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews. She was a great companion for her family during her times of need, especially for her sister Connie and sister-in-law, Mary. They, along with several friends, enjoyed going to many home and garden shows together. Throughout her life, Pat became nationally known as a shipping and warehouse manager while working for her brother at Timco, Inc. Pat had a great love for animals, taking in any stray dogs and cats she found, along with a couple of domestic rabbits that had been abandoned. Pat also loved riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle in the Black Hills. The family would like to thank Columbus Regional Hospital Wound Care, the Critical Care Unit and Dr. Douglas Roese for their loving care and compassion. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Nov. 19, 1949, Miss Swinney was the daughter of Dewey C. and Carol Shaw Swinney. Survivors include her brothers, Michael (Mary) Swinney of Columbus, Dale E. (Susan) Ankrom of Zionsville and Tim (Donna) Swinney of New Albany; sisters, Laura (Doug) Mahoney of Houston, Texas, and Connie (Rick) Wininger of Columbus; and nieces and nephews, Lisa and Kelly Ankrom, Nicholas (Megan) Swinney, Heather and Claire Swinney, Michelle and Kyle Gwin and Andrew Mahoney. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Inez E. Swinney; and a nephew, Alexander Swinney. Funeral Information A celebration of Pats life will be held at a later date. Donations Information Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society or C.A.R.E. Inc.
