Ralph M. Guthrie, 85, of Fairlawn Drive died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Guthrie was a graduate of Austin High School and a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Cummins Engine Company after 30 years of service and moved to Charleston, S.C., where he lived 22 years before returning to Columbus in 2003.
He was a member of East Columbus Christian Church and helped develop and maintain Hilltop Christian Camp.
Born in Saltillo, Ind., March 7, 1924, Mr. Guthrie was the son of U.D. and Lela Martin Guthrie. He married Velma L. Leek Nov. 6, 1949.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Clifford (Leah) Guthrie of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Larry (Debbie) Guthrie of Columbus, Keith (Alma) Guthrie of Elizabethtown and Dennis Guthrie of Suwanee, Ga.; grandchildren, Erika Guthrie Faris, Ryan Guthrie, Chris (Chasity) Guthrie, Ciela Guthrie, Ruben Guthrie, Sean Guthrie, Alexis Guthrie and Zachary (Sarah) Pollert; and great-grandchildren, Evan Faris, Breanna Guthrie, Rylee Noblitt, Rori Pollert and Cecelia Pollert.

FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. David Armstrong officiating.
