Richard E. Olmstead Sr., 62, of North Gladstone Avenue, died at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation. Born in Columbus Sept. 2, 1949, Mr. Olmstead was the son of Grant and Elnora Chasteen Olmstead. He is survived by daughters, Richelle (Jim) Medlock, Crystal Moore and Amy Rockwell, all of Columbus; a son, Richard Olmsted Jr. of Columbus; brothers, Arlie Olmstead of Columbus and Elvin Olmstead of Carrollton, KY; sisters, Ruby Johnson, Lilly Bense and Grace Olmstead, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Amber and Ridge Pearl, Bobby Hartwell, Michael Moore, Shane and Kayla Heck, Hayley Haste, Kotie Perry, Keaton, Devan, Jada and Dayla Olmstead; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Haven Hartwell He was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer Olmstead and Albert Olmstead; sisters, Joann Green, Dorothy Blanford and Louise Blanford; his father, Grant Olmstead; his mother, Elnora Olmstead; his best friend, his pet dog, Cinnamon; and a grandson, Christopher FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Dr. William Bailey officiating.
