Shelly I am so very sorry for the lost of your Father. Prayers to you and the family. Growing up around your Mom and Dad were an amazing time and after learning his bark was worse than his bite, I truly learned to admire this man. For what he stood for and the respect he gave to all. He will be greatly missed.
Love to all.

Shelly, your dad was always larger than life to me. I remember the boat races, talking to him on the radio when I was at your house, which was a very cool thing to me. I also remember how mad he got when we snuck out the basement window one night. He taught me to put extra icing on my cinnamon rolls from a can of frosting…something I still do to this day and always think of him when I do. I am so sorry for your loss. May you memories of him fill a lifetime. Shery Carter-Ashley

Shelly & Glenn,
I am so sorry to hear about Dick.
God has blessed you to have had a great father and father-in-law.
Dick and Cletah were not only good business friends but great friends.
Dick and I traveled to Yelm, Washington for one of his many boat races. Cletah had prepared enough food for our trip. One of us drove out a tank of gas while the other one slept and after 44 hours we arrived. I got to witness Dick set the World’s record for his class. That was one of my happiest, greatest memories with Dick.
One of the most scary moments happened at Swain Industries when Dick and I were working on an electrical problem when he disconnected the power of a box and dust was disturbed and blew up in his face and knocked him flat on his back. Thank God he did not lose his eye sight.
I think of him often and know he will be greatly missed.
Our prayers are with you,
Nolan & Mary Bottorff

Shelly. I have many memories of our families sharing time together. My dad and your dad were such great friends. Your dad taught me to dive at your house. He also stopped by my birkenstock store in Nashville to congratulate me on my success. So many years ago but I never forget his kindness. He will be missed. Christie Crippen
So sorry to hear about the loss of your father Shelley. We had many fond memories. Ed worked for Dick for many years. Your family was always good to us. Perhaps is in Heaven telling Ed he is late for work.

Dick was a very special person and dear friend. I am so glad that i got to know Joan and Dick at Faith Lutheran Church in Clewiston. He always gave the best hugs which made me feel very special. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Dick was a professional electrician! I remember him looking at the nonworking yard lights at church one evening, just before Lenten services were to begin that year, analyzing what was wrong with the lights and proceeding in the next couple of days to replace and fix them, so that everything was bright in the evening when people came for the Lenten services. Another thing I will never forget is how he and Joan contributed so much of their own money, and also did a fundraising effort to pay off the building of the addition to the Fellowship Hall, still so much enjoyed today!! But most important was his quiet faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and the importance of Faith Lutheran Church in his and Joan’s lives as God’s children while in Clewiston. He was always a positive, forward-looking Christian man. It was my pleasure to be his snowbird pastor for a number of years. Pastor Alan R. Koch
