Franz, 75, of Fairfax Drive, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Born June 21, 1940, he was the son of Willie J. and Ruth Ross Franz. He married Yvonne Waggoner January 28, 1968. Mr. Franz was a 1960 graduate of Columbus High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the carrier ship U.S.S. Intrepid. After returning from the Navy, he went to work at Cummins Engine Company in 1966 and retired in 2002 after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church, a 50-year member of Camon Masonic Lodge No. 343 F&AM, York Rite, and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed working in his yard, his collection of California Raisins, coins and stamps.Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; a daughter, Stacey Fields of Columbus; grandchildren, Dakota Fields and Kaylene Fields of Columbus; and a sister, Sue (Jim) Coyle of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents.
