Robert C. Kinworthy II (Chico), 69, of Columbus, went to be with Jesus on September 23, 2024, at 7:36 p.m. of cancer at his home. Born May 28, 1955, the son of Robert C. and Barbara J. Kinworthy. Robert graduated from Columbus North High School in 1973, retired from Cummins and then worked at East High School for several years. He was a member of Dove Ministries. When he was younger, he and his brother Greg would love to hunt for pop bottles and go mushroom hunting. He loved spending time playing golf with his friends and spending time with family too. Rob is survived by his 2 daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Spears of Columbus and Michelle (Randy) Kelsay of Elizabethtown 2 sisters, Ginger Hallet of Canada and Jill (Mike)Newlin of Columbus; 1 brother, Greg Kinworthy of Florida; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his significant other, Valerie Nicholas; several nieces and nephews; and beloved Jack Russell, Marley and cat, July. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Barbara Kinworthy; grandparents; and late wife Sylvia Kinworthy. A Celebration of Life will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Dove Ministries with Pastor Michael Newlin officiating. Calling will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Dove Ministries located at 5840 E. County Road 150 South Columbus, Indiana. Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dove Ministries or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.   2. I needed a car really bad and rob came to my house pick me up and drove all the way to North Vernon and followed me all the way back to my house to make sure I made it home safe. Definitely going to miss you ♥️

  3. Rob you made a great impact on my life when I was a kid in grammer you was my softball coach and you took me to practice and games keep me out of trouble and let me spend time at your house I always felt welcome thank you for that love you

  5. Rob is a great soul and a very funny man. He joked and laughed up until the very end of his illness and showed everyone how to face death in the eye with courage. He loved his family and will be remembered by all. Merle and I were so glad to have him in our life. We miss and love you Rob!

SERVICES:Funeral - Will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday March 21, 2018 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Newlin officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation -  Will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial - Will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.Memorial Contributions - May be made to Dove Ministries or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana thru the funeral home. Robert C. Kinworthy, 85, of Columbus, passed away at 7:36 p.m. on Friday March 16, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.Robert was born March 2, 1933 in Ewing, Indiana, the son of Dan and Myrtle Allman Kinworthy. He married Barbara J. Bellville on April 12, 1952. They spent 64 wonderful years together before her passing on October 31, 2016. Robert graduated from Brownstown High School in 1951. After graduation he moved to Washington D.C. where he worked for the U.S. Navy Department. In March of 1952, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Custer, Michigan. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1955, Robert moved to Columbus and began working at Cummins Engine Company, retiring in 1988. While working at Cummins, Robert was elected President of Cummins Office Committee Union in 1972, serving a 3 year term. Robert is survived by his children Ginger L. (Terry) Hallett of New Brunswick, Canada, Robert C. Kinworthy II of Columbus, Greg N. Kinworthy of Florida, and Jill E. (Mike) Newlin of Columbus; grandchildren Melissa, Emily, Michelle, Amanda, Travis, Krissy, Lindsey, JerryKevin and Kyle; 16 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Albert Kinworthy of Gulf Port, Mississippi; and a sister Selma (Amos) Lucas of Columbus.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara J. Kinworthy; brothers Bill, Dan Jr. Pat, and Eugene Kinworthy; sisters Mildred Smith and Geneva Wiley; as well as two infant siblings.
